Earthquake relief efforts Dec 05-Jan 06

4 December 05: Distribution of financial aid; Rs. 3,000 to each family (total of 132 families) in tent villages Diyarrian and Chattian Teh (Hatian Ballah, District Muzaffarabad). The team was accompanied by Ichawaja M. Yunis (Birmingham) and Ghulam Yayah Ansari (Blackburn). A tent school was established and books and stationery were provided to sixty pupils. A medical camp was set up and medication was provided to the patients in the tent village.

10 December 05: Metal sheets and financial aid was given to 230 families in Muzaffarabad city and to earthquake victims of valley Neelam (village of Beerri and Khatia Chogali) with the contact of Mufti Mohammed Roass Khan Ayubi (District Mufti, Mirpur) Resident of Sharda, Neelam valley, and Choudhary Ghazanfar Ali (Director Local Government).

Earthquake relief efforts Oct-Nov 05

Soon after the earthquake on 8 October 05, Ansari Welfare Trust decided to start an emergency relief operation, and the following actions were undertaken:

11 October 05: A team of three members visited Muzaffarabad with medical and food supplies. Another team of five members visited Rawalakat and distributed and handed over medicines, surgical goods, food and clothing to the affected people and to the District Health Officer at Rawalakat.

14 October 05: A team of eighteen members, including a doctor and nursing staff visited the Union Council Langarwal and established an advanced dressing station nearby the damaged Langarwal Civil Dispensary building. They provided medical assistance and first aid to over 200 victims and provided food to others.

Aid visits

Team 1: Trip to Rawalakat

Led by Al Haj Tariq Mahmood Ansari, Chairman Ansari Welfare Trust

A team of seven members provided dried milk, mineral water and dry food such as biscuits, warm clothing for the public on 11 October 2005 at Rawalakat.

They also supplied medicine and hospital bedding for the District Health Office.

Team 2: Trip to Muzaffarabad

Led by Dr. Amjad Ensari, Honorary Physician to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and co-ordinator of Ansari Welfare Trust on 11 October, just seventy hours after the earthquake.

On 14 October 2005 a team of eighteen members led by Al Haj Tariq Mahmood Ansari visited Muzaffarabad accompanied by a trust ambulance and two vans.

Impaired hearing project

The attached photos are from the unique impaired hearing project we undertook earlier this year. This will be Inshallah, a FREE service, available all year round, subject to the kind generosity of the donations from people worldwide.

We are now concentrating out efforts on the Kashmiri Earthquake and resources are now heavily deployed in providing food, tents, blankets and medicine.
